What are the requirements for obtaining the Golden Visa?
The requirements for obtaining the Gold Visa / Golden Visa are various, but applicants must meet at least one of 3 conditions:
What are the benefits of the "Golden Visa" for foreign investors?
There are several benefits. Essentially a simplified and privileged way to enter and stay in Portugal, which allows its holder to establish residence and invest in this country, and also to create links with Portuguese territory and other territories that are related to us through the "Schengen Area".
For how long can foreign investors enjoy these advantages?
The residence permit is granted for an initial period of 5 years, in which the requirements for its attribution must be maintained, and there are also minimum periods of permanence in national territory during the years in which the permit is valid.
The authorization can be renewed for periods of 2 years, provided the requirements for its attribution are met. All without prejudice to the holder being able, at a later date, to apply for: permanent residence permit or Portuguese nationality.
The Golden Visa is a "residence permit" for entry and stay in Portuguese territory for investment purposes.
It is intended to be granted to anyone who is not a citizen of a territory of the European Union, or the Schengen area, nor is under its application.

What does the press say about the Golden Visa?
More than listing a set of reasons that appear in internal reports and that justify the choice of Portugal as an investment destination, we intend to highlight the news in which the international community recognizes Portugal as a country capable of attracting foreign investment.
These reasons range from safety and quality of life to the evolution of the real estate market.
The highlight goes to the ease of doing business, education, safety, average life expectancy and golf.
Portugal appears as the 24th best country to do business in, in a list led by New Zealand. Forbes magazine has published the list of the best countries to do business in. New Zealand is the leader of this list, an improvement over last year (it was in second place), replacing Canada, which fell to fifth place. The publication explains that the improvement is related to "transparency and a stable business climate that encourages entrepreneurship.
The list was based on 141 countries and took into consideration 11 factors: property rights, innovation, taxes, technology, corruption, freedom (individual, commercial and monetary), bureaucracy, investor protection and stock market performance. Portugal is thus the 24th best country to do business in, according to the criteria used by Forbes, in a list where France comes in 20th and Germany in 21st.
Some Portuguese universities are already a constant presence in international 'rankings' led by the best in the world, climbing positions despite their small size when compared to foreign counterparts, and showing that training is an area where the country has international recognition.
The biggest highlight goes to the business schools, which are increasingly better positioned in the international evaluation of their executive training. And there are already three universities that have their business schools among the best in the world. The Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics was the first to enter the Financial Times' executive training ranking, where it has been for six consecutive years, and is in 46th place this year. The Nova School of Business and Economics entered for the first time in 2011, and has already climbed 11 positions, being now in 47th place. The University of Porto also managed to debut, in 2011, in the 'ranking' of customized training for companies, repeating the feat in 2012, reaching 64th place.
